Raymond Tyldsley

Chairman of Kearsley Urban District Council: 1944-45 (Independent)

Born: Kearsley 1 April 1890

Died: Victoria Hospital, Blackpool, Lancashire 1 July 1963

Company Secretary of Robert Fletcher and Sons, Stoneclough, Papermakers.

Spent all his working life at the firm, starting as a boy of 12 and working his way up. He retired in 1949 and moved from Kearsley to Worsley and then to Marton, Blackpool.

Elected to Kearsley UDC in 1938 as an Independent member.

Member of the Bolton and District Chamber of Commerce for 30 years and was president in 1952.

Member of Farnworth Rotary Club and was made a life member.

Methodist - He worshipped at Kearsley Mount Methodist Church and Sunday School where he was Church Treasurer for 20 years and a Sunday School teacher. He was also an official on the Farnworth Methodist Circuit.
