William Taylor

Chairman of Kearsley Urban District Council: 1950-51, 1959-60 (Labour)

Born: Farnworth, Lancashire 8 July 1892

Died: Moss Lane, Kearsley 14 December 1969

Operative cotton spinner.

Worked for 52 years at Bolton Textile Mill.

In 1917 he joined the 2/4 North Lancashire (17th King's Liverpool) Regiment. He served in France and Russia and was wounded shortly before the Armistice in November 1918.

Elected in 1935, representing West Ward from 1935 for three years and again from 1945 until 1964 when he lost his seat.

Member of Farnworth and Kearsley Labour Club and the club's over 60s organization.

Husband of Betsy Ellen Taylor, Chairman of Kearsley Urban District Council 1958-59.
