Worked as a schoolteacher, retiring as a Deputy Head Teacher.

Stood unsuccessfully as Liberal Parliamentary candidate for Farnworth in 1974 (twice) and 1979 and again for Bolton South East in 1983.

Wife of John Rothwell, Charman of Kearsley UDC 1967-68.
