Mark Perks

Mayor of Horwich: 1993-94 (Conservative)

Born: Farnworth 1957

Educated: Lord Street Primary School, Horwich; Horwich Parish Church C of E Primary School; Horwich County Secondary School; Rivington & Blackrod High School

Local Government officer and Schoolteacher.

Worked in accountancy for Manchester City Council but following a serious motorcycle accident in 1987 and a career change became a teacher, working in Helmshore and later in Bolton at Beaumont Primary School.

As Mayor of Horwich he helped to raise £5000 for ChildLine North West.

Moved to Chorley in 2000.

Chorley Borough Councillor from 2002 and Lancashire County Councillor from 2005.

Mayor of Chorley 2017-18.

Chairman of Astley Village Parish Council 2004, 2005 and 2008.

Chairman of the Chorley Charity 'The Arts Partnership'.

Football coach and referee - founder member and Club Welfare Officer for Astley Village Juniors FC FA Standard Charter Club.

Football coach and referee.

Motorcycling enthusiast - he was invited to be a Marshal at the Daytona 200 race in the USA in 1990.

His mother, Elsie Perks, was Mayoress.
