Chef and Caterer.
Began work at Percival's in Bolton Market Hall.
He later ran the firm's outside catering operation and the Lamplighter Restaurant, eventually becoming Director of Smithills Holdings in 1966 alongside Smithills Coaching House founders and fellow Mayors of Bolton, Donald and Allan Clarke.
Represented Halliwell Ward from 1984.
Leader of the Labour Group. Leader of Bolton Council.
