Educated: Rose Bridge School, Higher Ince

Her father was a miner and her mother was a mill worker.

She worked in various jobs until retiring.

She was the first female Mayor of Westhoughton and was the first female President of Westhoughton Labour Club.

She opened Krones UK premises on the Wingates Industrial Estate and the computer room at Westhoughton High School.

Chairman of the Action Group for the White Horse area.

Margery Goddart was Mayoress.
