Mayor of Farnworth: 1961-62 (Labour)
Born: Halliwell, Bolton
Educated: Wolfenden Street School, Bolton; Folds Road Secondary School, Bolton
Began working life as a little piecer at Barlow & Jones Prospect Mill and later Holden Mill.
From 1938 worked as a cutter for Monatague Burton tailors at Walkden.
As Mayor of Farnworth presented the Freedom of the Municipal Borough of Farnworth to Alderman James Stevenson, Chairman of Farnworth UDC 1934-36 and Mayor of Farnworth 1940-41 and to Dr Victor St Clair Lucas, a much loved local GP, on 21 September 1961.
Keen all round sportsman and Chairman of Farnworth Swimming Club.
