Harry Barnes

Chairman of Farnworth Urban District Council: 1928-30 (Labour)

Was for 21 years an official of the local branch of the National Union of Distributive and Allied Workers.

Represented South Ward from 1921.

He was a member of every Committee except Maternity and Child Welfare.

He was active in the Co-operative world and worked as Propaganda Secretary of the ILP.

"He was once referred to as the Stormy Petrel of the Council"- George Tomlinson.
